A Formula 60 is a 60 foot trimaran. These multihull racers are approximately 18 meters long, 16 meters wide and weigh about five tons. The maximum sail area is 400 square meters. This is twice the size of sail area and half the weight of a Volvo Ocean 60. The big sails and the light hulls make it possible for these boats to reach speeds exceeding 30 knots.
